Grief Weave & WOODSONG

An invitation to add to the Grief Weave tapestry, and performance of WOODSONG, 1000 seconds for 1000 years of old growth: dedicated to Tasha Diamant

Presented by Corina of @traverse.arts.theatre

The grief weave is a collaborative art project which was initially created in a workshop at the 2025 Comox to Palestine organizers gathering. It consists of strips of fabric woven into a tapestry approximately 8’x10’, some pieces inscribed with written expressions of grief; for the land, those experiencing genocides, and other multilayered griefs experienced under life-denying hierarchies of capitalism and fascism.

WOODSONG is a performance art piece I first performed in association with the Fairy Creek Blockade in 2021. It is an enactment of the ancient mourning practice of keening and consists of 1000 seconds (about 17 minutes) of yelling. A video of the original performance can be found here:

This performance would be dedicated to my friend and mentor Tasha Diamant, who passed away last November. Tasha was one of the very first people I shared the concept for WOODSONG with, and encouraged me to follow through and share it with the world even when I was hesitant to make weird performance art. She also invited me to perform it at one of her weekly Wednesday rallies for old growth, which I did in September 2021.
